Friend,

Big Oil is raking in record profits as Americans are paying high prices at
the gas pump. But that doesn’t mean suspending the federal gas tax is the
right solution.

The 18-cents-per-gallon gas tax is not to blame for high gas prices, and
passing a tax “holiday” merely feeds into the dishonest rhetoric of the
far right by ignoring the corporate greed and environmental destruction of
the fossil fuel industry.

of the Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax.

Fossil fuel companies are making record profits, accelerating the climate
crisis, and sticking Americans with the bill. Pausing the gas tax will
only save Americans between $4.79 and $14.31 over the course of three
months.

Instead of proposing feel-good measures that would cost billions in
infrastructure dollars without significantly helping average Americans, we
should tackle the root cause of the problem: Big Oil’s greed.

rein in windfall profits.

Onward,
Ro
