Voting access battles are being waged across the country, as Republican AGs and other Republican officials are determined to try to make it nearly impossible to vote for many communities across this nation. These policies disproportionately hurt Black and Brown communities and make it easier for Republicans to win elections.
Here are some of the recent voting rights battles happening around the country:
Pennsylvania Democrats are suing to get final ballots counted as three Republican controlled counties have prevented the state from certifying their primary results from earlier this summer
North Carolina’s State Board of Elections has denied an effort from the North Carolina Republican party to get a system in place that would require comparing signatures on absentee ballots
Massachusetts recently had a ruling from a Supreme Judicial Court that blocked the Massachusetts Republican Party from blocking no-excuse absentee voting
We are lucky to have Democratic AGs in all three of these states, but it’s important we hold these seats this year and in the years to come so we can protect our elections, especially ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
