Each month, this newsletter will highlight all the relevant upcoming Professional Development offerings for Wyoming educators. Upcoming PD Opportunities for August:

*Summer Canvas Professional Development*

Canvas is hosting a series of professional development sessions this summer that are free of charge and available for educators to schedule at times that work best for them. Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board virtual education credit will be available pending approval and eligibility. Check out these opportunities and sign up for any that interest you:

*From 10-11 a.m. on August 2, 9, 16; Tech Ed Tuesdays - Data Summer*

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will host Technical Education (TechEd) Tuesdays for all Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers, curriculum coordinators, and Perkins coordinators via the Zoom online platform. These virtual sessions will offer information regarding data closely related to the Perkins V State plan and state accountability. Attendees will be able to participate in a question and answer session each week. The CTE team offers the following one hour session at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays. Dates and topics include:


* August 2: Data Tell All.
* August 9: You Saw It Here First.
* August 16: Guest Speaker.

One focused professional development point will be awarded for each TechEd Tuesday session attended.

*From 10 a.m. August 2-12 p.m. August 4; 2022 Inspire Ingenuity*

Join the Wyoming Department of Education Career and Technical Education (CTE) and our colleagues on August 2-4, 2022 in Laramie for Inspire Ingenuity. This workshop will offer multiple strands providing a deeper dive into several different CTE programs.

There is something for everyone (each strand is limited to the first 20 participants):


* Advanced Manufacturing by Manufacturing Works.
* Blockchain/Digital Assets by the University of Wyoming Center for Blockchain & Digital Innovation.
* Construction Project Management by the University of Wyoming College of Engineering.
* Cybersecurity by CyberWyoming.
* Drones by CAPER.
* ProStart by Wyoming Restaurant & Lodging Association Education Foundation.
* Teach/Train by Professionals of Substitute Teaching.
* 21st CCLC by the WDE.

The registration fee for this workshop is $25. One participant per registration. Wednesday lunch will be provided during Kayleen McCabe of DIY TV?s keynote address. Curriculum, licensing and equipment will be furnished depending on the strand you choose. Register *here* [ [link removed] ].

*From 10-11 a.m. on August 9, virtually; Hathaway Scholarship Online Orientation*

The WDE?s Hathaway Team will hold online orientations starting at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. The orientation is for those new to the program, or for those who want a content refresher. Legislative updates will be included. Sessions will last about 45 minutes.

At the end of each online session, attendees who are still in the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a ?Hathaway Swag Bag.? All district personnel are invited to participate.

*From 4-6 p.m. on August 10, virtually; Wellness Speaker Series with Kirsten M. Espinoza, program coordinator for LCSD#1 day treatment programs.*

Espinoza received her degrees from the University of Wyoming and Portland State University, in counselor education, educational leadership, behavior management and MTSS/PBIS coaching. She has worked in the area of mental health as clinical therapist, family therapist and educator.?

Espinoza moved to Cheyenne in 2010 and has worked for Laramie County School District #1 for the past 12 years as a counselor, behavior specialist, district PBIS coach and special education program coordinator. She provides professional development in a variety of educational and mental health areas: Trauma Informed Schools, Restorative Practices, PBIS/MTSS Implementation, Classroom and Behavior Management, Child and Adolescent Mental Health. In addition, Espinosa works as a consultant to support schools who are struggling with students that have significant behavioral concerns.

WDE recognizes the importance of informed and well-trained CTE educators. WDE aims to increase the retention rates of CTE teachers and strengthen programs of study in your district. A CTE teacher is essential to the future success of our students as well as the workforce. CTE programs prepare students today to become tomorrow?s future business and community leaders. It is vitally important that we understand the ever-changing relevant knowledge and skills needed in the current workforce.
