Annual U.S. security assistance to Israel is an essential component of America’s national security strategy.
In addition to keeping our ally safe, this assistance creates American jobs at home, protects American interests abroad, and promotes global progress.
Cutting American security assistance to Israel now would be detrimental to Israel’s security given the threats the Jewish state faces:
To Israel’s north, Hezbollah has an arsenal of more than 150,000 missiles and rockets—some of which are capable of precisely targeting any location in Israel. In recent weeks, the IDF has intercepted several hostile drones fired by Hezbollah terrorists toward Israel’s offshore gas rigs.
To the south, Palestinian Islamic Jihad recently gave press a tour of its new tunnel network beneath Gaza—that they plan to use to kidnap Israelis for use as bargaining chips in prisoner exchanges. Meanwhile, 2022 textbooks produced by the U.N.’s Palestinian refugee agency were found to still contain incitement to violence against Israel and antisemitic hatred, despite promises to remove such content.
To the northeast, Iran has begun enriching uranium to 60% purity, while continuing to obstruct inspectors from fully monitoring its nuclear activities. Recently, Iran removed 27 surveillance cameras used by the U.N. to actively track its nuclear sites.
And inside Israel, 19 Israelis have been killed in recent months in a wave of shooting, stabbing and car ramming attacks on Israel’s streets, which Hamas and other Iran-based terror groups have praised as “heroic operations” and called for more.
This is NOT the moment to weaken the alliance between America and our only stable democratic ally in the Middle East.
Now is the time to accelerate our advocacy, not retreat from it.
