Please give me a moment to explain.
Hi, John — It’s Lucas Kunce.
I know you probably get a lot of emails. But please give me a moment to explain why I’m running for Missouri’s open U.S. Senate seat, just like John Fetterman is running for Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat.
As a kid from a working-class neighborhood right in the middle of Missouri, I never expected to run for office.
Like so many others, my family struggled to make ends meet — and when my little sister was born with a heart condition, we relied on the generosity of our neighbors to make it. They helped me go to college, and after that, I joined the Marines to honor everything they gave to me.
But when I came home between tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I found a community that had been picked for parts — the corner store where my mom floated a check boarded up and my first family house bulldozed to the ground. Here’s all that’s left of it:
While my buddies and I risked our lives building up towns like Habbaniyah, Fallujah, and Herat, career politicians, and the corporate elites backing them, let our country waste away.
Even now, after spending 20 years and $6.4 trillion on pointless forever wars, defense contractors, and nation-building abroad, they can’t figure out how to invest a fraction of that amount back into America.
Just like my friend John Fetterman, I believe that everyday Americans should be calling the shots in this country. So today, I’m asking for your support to make it happen.
If you’re ready to take back power from the giant corporations and corrupt, career politicians who’ve stripped states like Missouri and Pennsylvania for parts, I need you on our team.
Can you chip in $5 so we’ll have the resources we need to get our message in front of voters and flip this U.S. Senate seat? Your donation will be split between my campaign and John’s campaign before the July 31 midnight deadline. Neither of us takes any money from corporate PACs, so I mean it when I say anything makes a big impact.
