Whenever anyone asks me what the worst part of running for office is, I tell them the truth: it's the time spent asking people to contribute money to my campaign.
Compared to my colleagues, I'm pretty lucky. Because of the people-powered organization we've built together over the years, my time at events or tied up on the phone is kept to a minimum.
Instead, I get to stay laser-focused on the work I was elected to do representing the people of Massachusetts and our nationwide progressive movement in the Senate — and that's thanks in large part to the response of supporters like you to emails like this.
I'll take the grassroots support of motivated people all across the country over dialing for dollars any day of the week — but it does mean that from time to time, I have ask:
I'm incredibly proud of the fact we fund our organizing and outreach operations the right way — together. I hope you're proud of that fact too.
Sincerely, thank you for your support, and for anything you can add today. It means the world to know that I can count on our movement when it matters most.
In solidarity,
Ed Markey
