Every time a world crisis upends energy markets, the fossil fuel industry trots out the same old playbook of drill and burn — just like what energy companies are doing with the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. But catastrophic climate change is now a five-alarm threat.
The U.N.'s International Panel on Climate Change warns that we could miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a livable planet for future generations. The record shattering temperatures and raging wildfires we're seeing around the world this summer are just some of the symptoms of our climate crisis. We simply cannot afford to keep handing over our priceless treasures to produce climate-busting fossil fuels.

✔ Wind and solar energy made up an estimated 75% of new electric generating capacity that came online in the U.S. in 2021
✔ Today, it is now less expensive and more cost-effective to construct new wind and solar power operations than it is to build new large-scale fossil-fuel power plants
✔ At its current pace, renewable generation will be able to meet all our current electricity needs by 2035
But the threat remains. Climate change is accelerating. Even the International Energy Agency — one of the fossil fuel industry's most loyal champions — is calling for no investment in new fossil fuel supply projects.
That hasn't stopped Big Oil from doing all it can to continue to rake in billions in profits while securing more oil and gas leases to drill in our spectacular wild places. They're willing to plunge us headlong toward a climate meltdown while pumping toxic pollutants into our air that kill an estimated 350,000 Americans every year — all for corporate greed. Enough is enough.
