Conservative Outsider Leora Levy Wins Republican U.S. Senate Debate
GREENWICH, CT - Earlier this evening, Republican candidates running for U.S. Senate in Connecticut took the stage for a televised debate ahead of the August 9 primary. Leora Levy, the conservative outsider, dominated the debate and showed voters why she is the best candidate to defeat Dick Blumenthal in November. At a time when voters are looking for new solutions and a transparent, ethical government, Levy will deliver for Connecticut voters.
In the debate, Levy pointed to numerous contrasts with Themis Klarides, whose liberal record more closely aligns with Blumenthal than Republican voters. Klarides pointed to her liberal stances, proudly touting her record as a career politician who supported extreme pro-abortion policies, championed strict gun laws, raised taxes in Connecticut and refused to support the Republican presidential candidate.
Klarides:
- Helped pass some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation
- Proudly worked with NARAL and Planned Parenthood to make Connecticut a sanctuary state for abortion
- Voted to increase the diesel tax 23 percent on July 1, further fueling inflation
- Refused to vote for Donald Trump, the party’s endorsed candidate for President
Levy released the following statement post-debate:
“The Republican Party has a great opportunity to win the Connecticut Senate seat, but we must nominate a principled, conservative outsider who can take the fight to Blumenthal and defeat him. Now is the time to send a message that Connecticut families have had enough of the career politicians who got us into this mess. Tonight, voters witnessed that I will be a true fighter in Washington to stop Biden-Blumenthal inflation, be the law-and-order candidate who will champion our law enforcement, combat rampant lawlessness and protect our nation from the invasion at our Southern Border.
“Voters are ready for change, and I am ready to fight for them.”
