That’s the amount of cash I’ve accepted from corporate PACs.
It’s no secret that our politics are broken and have left too many working families behind. Growing up, I saw jobs shipped overseas because of self-interested politicians and corporate greed.
As a lawyer in the U.S. Senate, I saw first-hand the corrupting influence of corporate PACs and dark money on the legislative process–it’s why I worked so hard to get a constitutional amendment passed to overturn Citizens United.
Now, I’m running to be a representative for working families across NY-19. And because I’m not taking corporate money, I won’t be held hostage by corporate special interests when I get to Congress.
But here’s the crazy part, John: I’m the ONLY candidate running in this district, Democrat or Republican, who has pledged to never accept money from corporate PACs. Instead, I’m only relying on grassroots supporters like you.
My opponents may have deep bank accounts and corporate PACs at their disposal, but I have you, and I believe that together we can win. Our election is less than a month away, so we need resources from grassroots supporters now more than ever. Can you pitch in $5, $10, or more today? ([link removed])

John, if I haven’t said it before, it’s the honest work ethic and people-first principles that I learned growing up in Upstate New York that have guided my career.
After law school, I turned down offers to work for the big banks on Wall Street and instead worked with the American Academy of Pediatrics on a landmark civil rights lawsuit representing kids from low-income families who had difficulty accessing healthcare.
I argued in federal court then, and believe in my heart and soul today, that healthcare is a civil right. Taking that case was the right thing to do, and I’m so glad I did. We got something done for working families — and that’s what public service is all about.
So now, as I run for Congress and fight for working families, I have to make sure that I have the resources to take on the special interests. John, even though I hate to keep asking, could you make a contribution to my campaign and join the thousands of Upstate New Yorkers who are tired of being left behind by corporate-backed politicians?
