Hi, it’s Katie Porter. You may know me for being a tough questioner during Congressional hearings. But believe it or not, there’s been a time or two where I’ve been the one sitting in the hot seat and on the receiving end of the tough questions.
The first example that comes to mind is when my three kids ask me what’s for dinner. The second example is when I was in my bankruptcy class during law school, with Professor Elizabeth Warren.
Since meeting Elizabeth in that class, she became a mentor for me — she inspired me to become a law professor as well, and also a consumer protection attorney.
When I decided to run for office for the first time in 2018, she was one of the first people I called for advice, and she believed in our long-shot race from the start. Our campaign fought hard and flipped a district that was traditionally a Republican stronghold, and I was able to join her in Washington to hold greedy corporations who cheat working people accountable.
Now, my whiteboard and I are up for re-election in a brand new district. I feel so grateful to have learned from Elizabeth, and I know that so many other candidates get to receive that same support through Warren Democrats. Will you please split a contribution of $3 or anything you can to support my re-election and other Warren Democrats across the country? [[link removed]]

During my first few weeks in Congress, Elizabeth called me up to see how I was settling into my new position. I wasn’t going to lie to her — it was difficult to gain footing and I didn’t feel like I had found my voice.
I knew what I had come to Congress to do — to stand up to the Trump administration and fight on behalf of families like my own — I just needed to find a way channel it. I wanted to ask the questions that working people deserved answers to. So during my first couple of hearings with big CEOs, I did the math on my whiteboard to make it clear to consumers at home that these companies were knowingly misleading them.
And we started to get answers. We broke through the hypocrisies and contradictions. The CEO of Wells Fargo even resigned a couple weeks after I questioned him. After a hearing, I was standing in an airport and Elizabeth called me again. She told me, “You found your voice. Don’t ever stop using it.”
Elizabeth has always had my back — and I’m not alone. Through Warren Democrats, she’s helped elect dozens more Democrats up and down the ballot since 2020, and she’s already endorsed dozens more for 2022. She’s in this fight by our side when the going gets tough.
I'm facing my toughest election so far. If you’re able to right now, please split a $3 donation between my re-election campaign and Warren Democrats so we can continue fighting corruption in Congress and giving working families the representation they deserve. [[link removed]]
I don’t plan to stop using my voice anytime soon. Your support today makes that possible.
Thank you for reading,
Katie Porter
