Last week, while Donald Trump and Mike Pence brought their shadow battle for the GOP directly to Arizona, the AZ GOP members of Congress were again showing just how extreme they are.

Every member of the AZ GOP’s congressional delegation voted against protecting same-sex marriage, interracial marriage and the right for people to have access to contraceptives.

It’s another reminder that if the GOP grabs control of Congress, they will pursue an agenda that is absolutely too extreme for Arizona. And as the top toss-up state, control of Congress is likely to come down to whether we can protect our current Democratic seats here in Arizona.

We’ve often pointed out that the AZ GOP wants to send us back decades. Refusing to support federal protections for same-sex marriage, interracial marriage and access to contraceptives is just the latest proof of the AZ GOP’s backward agenda.

Add in their other backward, extreme positions – on voting rights, on abortion, and more – and you can see how disastrous giving Republicans control of Congress would be.
