John,
At a time when mass shootings occur multiple times a week, survivors and their families are unable to sue gun manufacturers for justice. But that could change this week.
The House has the chance to repeal the unjust federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) — an unparalleled gun industry protection law that’s been interpreted to shield negligent gun dealers and makers from civil lawsuits.
If this bill passes, gunmakers and sellers will no longer have the defense of immunity in court. The gun industry will be treated the same as every other industry. Victims and their families will have a path to justice. And negligent gunmakers will be pushed to reform how they manufacture, sell, and market firearms, saving countless lives.
Unsurprisingly, the NRA is doing everything in their power to protect gun lobby profits, defeat this legislation, and deny victims of gun violence access to justice. And we need your help to fight back. Will you rush a message to your representative now and tell them to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce of Arms Act? >>
