FIRST: The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, denying the constitutional right to abortion.

THEN: Extremist Republicans and state governments enacted inhumane abortion bans and restrictions, and they began turning their attention to revoking protections for contraception and same-sex marriage.

Since the overturn of Roe, we’ve seen the rapid backsliding in reproductive rights on a national scale. Extremist Republicans and state governments have already managed to reverse decades-worth of progress that protected the right to control one’s reproductive future. These laws include cruel abortion bans and restrictions, and bills threatening the accessibility of contraception – proving that the GOP’s fight to roll back civil rights doesn’t end with abortion.

Dwight took action to protect Americans from the GOP’s increasingly reactionary and authoritarian agenda. He voted for the Respect for Marriage Act and the Right to Contraception Act to protect the right to same-sex marriage and access to contraception. The Senate must bring these bills to a vote and ACT before Republicans enact more inhumane laws to oppress already-marginalized Americans.
