Dear John,
As a congressman, it is important to keep my supporters and constituents informed of the work I’m doing. Here are some updates on what I’ve been working on for you in Congress:
1. I supported the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. This bill will ensure that veterans exposed to toxic substances while serving will automatically be eligible for VA health care and disability benefits as well as provide additional funding to the VA.
2. I announced that the Federal Aviation Administration awarded $135,424 to the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport. This funding will provide necessary support to the airport’s ongoing projects, like the passenger boarding bridge. Investing in our local airport is vital to bringing in supplies, transporting people to and from, and growing our local economy.
3. I voted for the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act. This legislation will improve the pay for service members and help maintain, build, and improve our nation’s defense systems to protect us at home and abroad.
4. I attended the opening ceremony for the new Robert S. Poydasheff VA Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. Veterans deserve the best quality care our country can provide, and the opening of this clinic is an important step to delivering on that promise.
5. I secured $3,048,137 in federal grant funding through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund for three technical colleges in Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District: South Georgia Technical College, Albany Technical College, and Columbus Technical College. This funding will go toward training, education, student financial aid, and student support.
I’m proud of the work I’ve done to ensure that the people of Middle and Southwest Georgia, as well as the rest of the country, are represented and invested in.
