Dear John,

With just two weeks until Christmas Eve and Hanukkah, we hope you're making good progress with your holiday preparations (but no judgment if you’ve procrastinated a little). The close of 2019 reminds us of where we've come as a journal and an online community and inspires us to imagine where we'd like to go.

This year, we were honored to publish some of our country’s most insightful thinkers: scholar Yuval Levin on gratitude in an age of outrage, Archbishop Charles Chaput on what makes a life worth living, Senator Marco Rubio on common good capitalism, Senator Josh Hawley on protecting born-alive abortion survivors, sociologist Mark Regnerus on “gender-affirming” surgery and mental health, and economist Jesus Fernanendez-Villaverde on the problems with and solutions to American healthcare, to name just a few.

Our matching campaign is now in its third week, and we’re getting closer to our goal of $25,000. Steve Whelan, Chairman of the Witherspoon Institute Board of Trustees and Michael Maibach, Witherspoon Institute Trustee, have pledged to match readers’ donations from now until December 31! Together, we can raise $50,000 by year’s end.

Your gift will allow us to keep bringing you respectful, reasoned, principled analysis of the issues that most affect our families, communities, and nation. Click here to donate today.
