Right now, families across our district (and our country) are feeling powerless.

The word “power” means a lot to different people, but to me, it means responsibility. With great power comes great responsibility, but unfortunately, the very utility corporations tasked with providing our power have failed us.

These utility companies have a monopoly over our access to power and little oversight to prevent them from taking advantage of customers. Our utility company, Central Hudson, has overcharged and under-delivered.

As Ulster County Executive, I called out Central Hudson and demanded they pay back customers after unfair rate increases.

In Congress, I’ll continue to hold corporations to the highest standard to make sure they’re never ripping off our families.

Standing up for our families and fighting for what’s right is what this campaign is about.

I entered public service to start fixing our politics, improving our country, and renewing our democracy from the ground up. That has meant providing direct financial relief to small businesses and residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, building supportive and affordable housing, and standing up to companies like Central Hudson Utilities that have tried to rip off our families.

There’s still a lot of work to be done to return power to the hands of the people, and I’m ready to get to work in Congress to make it happen.
