It’s that time again: we’re approaching our next end-of-month fundraising deadline this Sunday, July 31. In a moment, I’m going to ask if you can chip in $10 or $25 to support our people-powered campaign, but first, I hope you’ll let me explain the stakes of this race.

In the past few weeks alone, far-right Rep. Yvette Herrell has made her extreme agenda clear. She cheered on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and voted against protecting reproductive choice and access to birth control.

Not only has she failed to stand up for New Mexicans’ right to choose, she’s also trying to take our state and country backward by voting against codifying same-sex marriage. In 2022, Herrell won’t support marriage equality — she’d rather stand on the wrong side of history.

And with the bipartisan January 6 House committee revealing their investigative findings, we learned that Herrell was potentially in line for a presidential pardon in light of her efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Whether it’s our right to bodily autonomy, our right to marry the person we love, or our right to free and fair elections, Herrell cares more about advancing the MAGA agenda than fighting for the people she was elected to serve. That’s why we must replace her this November 8.

NM-02 deserves a true representative in Congress, and our race is one of the most important in the country: this district is one of the Democratic Party’s top priorities to flip from red to blue in order to defend our House majority from a Republican takeover.
