Just one month ago, the Colorado GOP picked their nominee and my opponent for the November election. Almost immediately, the National GOP Senate campaign arm wrote his campaign a check for $46,500 — a drop in the bucket compared to the millions they’ve raised to flip seats like mine.

Mitch McConnell recently announced he was “all-in in Colorado,” so it’s clear my opponent has the GOP fundraising machine behind him, in addition to dipping into his personal wealth to power his campaign since grassroots enthusiasm wasn’t enough to keep his campaign going. I don’t take a penny from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists, because the people that guide my work in the Senate are working parents, local farmers, small-business owners, and everyone in between.

I’m not afraid of a challenge or facing off against the National GOP and my opponent. I won my last midterm re-election by just 1.7%, then gave parents a tax cut through the expanded Child Tax Credit, banned surprise bills after medical emergencies, and helped repair roads and bridges here in Colorado while creating good-paying jobs. Now, I’m continuing the fight to enshrine the right to choose.

1.7% is a small margin. That’s why we need to reach every voter and make my case. But a poll showed me down by 1% to a GOP opponent, so we can’t afford to lose step.
