Dear Friend,
We received the certified primary election results from the
Secretary of State, and I want to thank everyone for their support and
effort over the last 3 months.
The Chris To Congress team fought hard and we fought smart,
out-raising all other challengers combined. We also matched the
18-month long campaign of the prevailing challenger almost vote for
vote, falling short by only 0.3%.
That a first-time candidate — not relying on the backing of party
infrastructure but on the grassroots support of thousands of concerned
citizens — came within a few hundred votes of advancing demonstrates
the changing tide of our local and national politics.
People are frustrated and they are ready for leaders who focus
first and foremost on results.
I launched this campaign out of a sense of duty. I could not sit by
while people’s liberties, small businesses, and the middle class are
crushed by what our Founders and many after them warned about: a
coalition of government and corporations, beholden to the interests of
elected officials, bureaucrats, and CEOs; callous to the people’s
needs.
Needs like water, fire safety, and access to world-class education,
which every child in this country deserves as a birthright of being
American.
The challenges I addressed over the past 3 months are challenges
that I believe must be confronted whether or not I am in office. Among
the many issues I raised, all presently pale in comparison to the
prospect of severe water shortages. Please continue to spread the word
about the removal of freshwater storage in our region, which some of
our political leaders support, indefensibly. The arrogance and hubris
of removing the public’s access to fresh water will result in a
humanitarian disaster that is beyond description. We must do
everything we can to ensure continued access to abundant supplies of
water.
Please continue to encourage and provide financial support for the
county farm bureaus and other organizations that are fighting to
protect our critical infrastructure and our future.
What’s next for me? I plan to take the next few months to spend
much-needed time with my family, friends, and dog Xorro. Then I will
assess with my team how I can best serve the North Coast over the
coming years, both politically and economically. I put my business on
hold for most of this year. I will resume growing my company and
supporting the small businesses of California. I also feel that
politics is where I can make the biggest contribution to creating a
better world.
Whatever I decide to do next, you’ll be among the first to know.
Thank you for your support. I will never forget it.
Semper Fidelis, Chris
