Dear friend,

COVID-19, climate change, and the war in Ukraine have severely weakened the global food system. The UN just reported that more than 800 million people worldwide are now suffering from hunger — and that number is growing.

The scale of the global food crisis is immense. Our teams are working on the ground in 40+ countries around the world to reach as many people as possible who are feeling its effects.

That’s why we’re reaching out today to share with you how your gift can provide up to 5 times more life-changing assistance.

You see, at Mercy Corps, every $1 you donate is combined with an average of up to $4 in separate government and multilateral funding, enabling us to go 5X as far in helping people overcome enormous challenges.

Rush your support before August 1 to help us meet our July $50,000 goal ▸

Last year, Mercy Corps reached 50 million people, and as we face a global food crisis that is escalating daily, we must do more — together.

Our work helps to change the lives of people like Abongon Echwa in Kenya. Abongon is a single mother to six children. She collects heaps of firewood to sell at the market to support her family, but it is rarely enough to pay for food. Her landowner often shares food from their farm with Abongon and her family, but, because of severe drought, it has been difficult to grow anything.

We provided Abongon with emergency cash assistance, which has allowed her to buy food items like pasta, margarine, rice, tomatoes, and potatoes, and even some meat to feed her family. Hers is one of 2,700 drought-affected families receiving Mercy Corps cash assistance.

We’ve set a $50,000 July goal to help fuel programs that can be life-changing for people facing hunger, poverty, and conflict. Will you show up to help people in crisis during these challenging times? Together, with generous new supporters like you, we can go up to 5X as far.

Thank you,
