We wanted to take a moment and make sure you know exactly where Michelle Steel stands on the issue of reproductive freedom and the right to contraceptive care:
- Last year, Steel joined with extremists in Congress who demanded that the Supreme Court work to overturn Roe v. Wade.
- When the Women’s Health Protection Act was brought up for a vote this year, Steel voted against it.
- After Roe was overturned, Steel voted against the Right to Contraception Act which would ensure access to contraception.
- Now, Steel is going the extra mile by voting against protecting a woman’s ability to seek lawful abortions in other states.
This is clearly personal for Steel, and her record demonstrates she's willing to do whatever it takes to enact her radical ideological beliefs -- even if it harms the safety of her constituents.
Here's the kicker, John. For all these terrible votes, Steel has earned tens of thousands of dollars in campaign checks. She is now ardently endorsed by anti-choice groups like the Susan B. Anthony List and the California Pro-Life Council. Research shows that her extremist views are completely out of step with her constituents.
The good news is that with Jay Chen on the ballot, analysts and local activists believe that we have a strong chance of ousting Michelle Steel in November, but it depends on your support: Will you chip in $3 to make sure we have the resources to flip this swing district?
