November 8 is fast approaching. How are you helping your community prepare to vote with facts? Poynter has a long list of free or inexpensive opportunities to ensure your audience has quality information before heading to the polls.
Here are some of my favorites:
- From Poynter’s social-first digital media literacy initiative MediaWise, Find Facts Fast is a free seven-day text message course that helps voters quickly discover trustworthy information and reliable sources online.
- The second annual United Facts of America will stream live from Washington, D.C., Sept. 27-29, 2022. Hear leading voices in journalism, academia, tech, health care and politics shed light on the issues concerning voters, from the economy and inflation to climate change and gun laws. Register to attend the festival of fact-checking.
- PolitiFact is leveraging their reporting power to fact-check statements by the nation’s top candidates, especially in key battleground states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. Subscribe to PolitiFact Weekly to have their best fact-checks delivered free to your inbox.

👏 Congrats to the 38 journalists who graduated from our Summit for Reporters and Editors last week! Led by Tom Huang, our faculty taught journalists from The New York Times, The Associated Press, CNN, QCity Metro, Chalkbeat, Hawai’i Public Radio, Alaska Public Media, The Palm Beach Post, New Hampshire Union Leader and more. Here's what one recent grad said about her experience:
"Being a full-time journalist, it's rare to have a chance to pause and learn. This summit reignited my love of the craft and has empowered me to become a critical, thoughtful newsroom leader. I felt heard and seen. Summits like these, led by journalism powerhouses, allow us to lean into our humanity while honing in our passion and refining our skills. Ever so grateful."
