[1]Alessandra Biaggi - Democrat for Congress

I have about 15 minutes of free time this morning. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but with the primary less than a month away, it's pretty rare to catch a breather like this.

I know our campaign sends many emails, but I wanted to take a few of those minutes today to talk about my decision to run for Congress, and why your support is so important.

Here's the truth: When I first ran for State Senate in 2018 against a seven-term incumbent, a lot of people thought I didn’t stand a chance — that I shouldn't waste my time.

But when I looked at the leadership we had in New York, I didn't see myself being represented. So many of our politicians lacked any urgency or understanding of what our communities needed — and I decided that was worth fighting back against. We were outspent 10 times over, and we won.

Now, I see the same lack of leadership and urgency in Washington today that I saw in Albany then.

Democrats have the opportunity to take bold action on the urgent issues of our time — the climate crisis, protecting abortion and voting rights, gun safety, health care as a human right… but so many of our leaders simply lack the political courage to act.

That's why I'm running — to take our movement's fight to Congress, and be a fearless voice for working people in NY-17 and across the country.

But here's another truth: Running the kind of campaign that can win takes a lot of resources. Especially when my opponent has the support of the entire political establishment, and we're not taking a cent of corporate PAC money.

I know what it takes to go up against deep pockets and win: A grassroots movement of lots and lots of people, ready to fight for change.

The only way we'll win this race is together. So I have to ask:

Can you make a contribution to our people-powered campaign for Congress today? The amount isn't as important as the donation itself — anything you can add makes a big difference.
