new fact sheet from Urban Institute health care experts finds that providing free preventative services improves vaccination rates and access to preventive medications and increases screening rates for certain chronic conditions and cancers.
As Kelley v. Becerra, a lawsuit pending in the Northern District of Texas, seeks to overturn the Affordable Care Act’s preventive services requirement, researchers find that a lack of free preventative services could reduce access to life-saving care for the estimated 167.5 million Americans with private health insurance in 2023.
