John – We are thrilled to welcome Becca Balint to the Brand New Congress 2022 slate! Becca is running for the open At-Large seat to represent Vermont in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Becca is a former middle school teacher currently serving in the Vermont State Senate as the President Pro Tempore. Through her leadership in the Senate, she helped pass paid family leave, increase the minimum wage, bold climate action, and the most progressive reproductive freedom legislation in the country.
We need Becca’s determined leadership in Congress. Will you rush a split contribution between Brand New Congress and Becca’s bold progressive campaign now? [[link removed]]

Becca has spent her entire life fighting for people on the margins. Growing up gay, and under the shadow of her grandfather’s murder in the Holocaust, Becca learned early how important it is to look out for one another – especially the most vulnerable. As a young girl she reached out to befriend and protect kids targeted by bullies.
This sense of protectiveness grew into a lifetime of activism and her career as an educator, culminating in Becca’s election to the Vermont State Senate in 2015. In 2021 she became the first woman and first openly gay person to serve as Senate President in Vermont.
Becca is enthusiastically endorsed by fellow Vermont State Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale, who ended her campaign for this seat to unite the progressive vote in support of Becca.
Here’s what Kesha had to say about Becca’s leadership and why she’s the best choice for this seat:
“Her leadership has been battle-tested, her integrity has been battle-tested and her policy positions have been battle-tested. [Becca has] a track record there of doing what is difficult because it is right.”
Kesha Ram Hinsdale

Becca has a strong track record of legislative successes in the Vermont State Senate. We know that when she talks about fighting for the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, stronger unions, universal childcare, and reproductive rights – these aren’t just words, they are commitments.
Her tenacious leadership and effective coalition building will help us leverage the votes we need to pass legislation in Congress.
BNC, just like our slate, doesn’t take money from corporate PACs. That means Becca is relying on a groundswell of grassroots donors to power her campaign, and BNC is relying on grassroots contributions to help all of our candidates win.
You can help by splitting a contribution between BNC and Becca’s grassroots campaign now:

Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. We invest EARLY to help grassroots candidates succeed. We recruited and elected AOC in 2018 and Cori Bush in 2020 alongside Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tliab. And we have our first win of 2022: Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick won her primary by FIVE votes thanks to BNC.
We have elections from now until November, and our candidates are counting on your support. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
