Rally to Support Public Renewables for New York
Wednesday, July 27th, 12:00 pm EDT
In coalition with Public Power New York, we’re calling a rally to demand that Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie hold a special session immediately following the July 28th hearing to pass the Build Public Renewables act, as is. The New York State Build Public Renewables Act authorizes the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and implement renewable energy projects that will ensure New York State can meet the goals laid out in the 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The State Senate has passed the bill. But the Assembly, which Heastie controls, has not.
Join us at 12pm Wednesday, July 27th at Heastie’s office, 250 Broadway, to show him and the other fossil-fueled backed Democrats that we mean business. RSVP here for the rally to support public renewables.

Things are heating up, here's what we can do about it!
Join us on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm EDT for Power Hour, where we call, tweet, and email legislators and fossil fuel enablers to push for specific climate-oriented bills and actions.
Wednesday, July 27th's Power Hour will be IRL this week! Join us for a 12 pm Rally at Speaker Heastie's office to demand a Special Session to vote on the Build Public Renewables Act. If you can’t make it in person here is a dedicated hotline from Food and Water Watch to call Heastie about it: 888-997-5380.
On Monday, August 1st, we will contact our electeds to let them know how important Local Law 97 is, as the boldest urban climate law in the world! We cannot allow it to be gutted by the Adams administration's rule-making process, which would let landlords off the hook for simple energy-efficiency improvements to their buildings.
350Brooklyn Picnic! Tuesday, August 9, 6pm to 8 pm. Potluck.
Grand Army Plaza end of Long Meadow, Prospect Park.
Come to our summer picnic! In August we suspend our usual monthly meeting in favor of a relaxed gathering in Prospect Park. Bring food and/or drink to share, or just come–there’s always plenty. Enter at Grand Army Plaza. We’ll be near the Endale Arch just inside Long Meadow. A perfect way to spend a summer evening.
Help us get up to 500 signatures for Local Law 97!
This week is a big week for New York City's flagship climate law Local Law 97, and the most important urban climate law in the world. Lets send a big message with our calls, rallies and this petition! With our allies we'll be urging Mayor Adams to strictly implement LL97 - not to create massive loopholes for wealthy landlords to avoid their climate responsibilities. Please sign and share widely!
