We want to keep you up-to-date on Jared’s work advocating for Mainers and breaking through partisan gridlock in Congress, so here is just some of what Rep. Golden has been working on this month.

SUPPORTING MAINE VETERANS:
Washington bureaucrats — through a process called the AIR Commission — are quietly recommending the closure of VA facilities across rural Maine, including in Houlton, Fort Kent, and Rumford. Jared has made veterans a top priority in Congress, which is why this month he introduced a bipartisan bill to eliminate the AIR Commission before it has the chance to act on misguided recommendations to close VA health care facilities.

SUPPORTING THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY:
Jared believes that no one should be discriminated against because of who they are, which is why he voted in support of the Respect for Marriage Act that would enshrine marriage equality in federal law and prevent individual states from rolling back the right to same-sex marriage.

BOOSTING DDG-51 SHIPBUILDING:
This month, the House passed the FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, including Jared’s amendment to increase our investment in national defense, provide pay raises for our military personnel, secure authorization for the construction of a third DDG-51 destroyer, and more. This bill is important to the many Mainers who will contribute to it, particularly those at Bath Iron Works.

100 DAYS OUT FROM THE ELECTION:
We know it’s hard to believe, but on July 31st, we’ll officially be 100 days out from the election! To celebrate, we’re hosting a Weekend of Action on the 30th and 31st to kick off the final stretch of the campaign. We’ll be knocking on doors and talking to voters – and we’d love for you to join us!
