15+ years of funding and support

Last year marked our 15th anniversary of supporting organisations to improve access to safe abortion information and care.

SAAF was set up in 2006 to provide funding targeted on abortion, an area many other donors shied away from supporting. Since then, we have provided over $56 million USD to 210 organisations in 74 countries across the world.

We are delighted to share our 2021 Annual Report, which contains updates on the work of SAAF grantee partners last year, as well as more information about SAAF's history as we prepare to start a new round of funding this year.

We're delighted to be able to share some of the uplifting stories from long-standing SAAF grantee partners in our latest Annual Report.

For example, Annie from the DRC tells us:

“Before we had SAAF funding there were more unwanted pregnancies, more clandestine abortions, more unplanned births. Thanks to the funding we now have three clinics, and all of the services we provide are free. ...The difference is so remarkable on all levels."
