Hello John,

On August 5th, a final hearing will be held to determine if my opponent, Rebekah Jones, will be disqualified from the ballot.

Documentation showing that Jones did not comply with regulations to qualify for public office based on her voter registration history have been verified by the Montgomery County Maryland Board of Elections.

These records show Jones was registered as an Independent from June 11 - August 11, 2021, causing her to be about 60 days shy of the 365-days registered as a Democrat that is required for candidacy. The full story and documentation can be viewed on my Blog ([link removed]) .

Why Did I File a Lawsuit?

All candidates must comply with both federal and state regulations in order to qualify for public office -- without exception.

We filed suit because it is in the best interest of both the Democratic Party and the constituents of the First Congressional District to ensure there is a qualified Democratic candidate available to unseat Matt Gaetz in the general election.

If we had not filed this suit when we did, we can be sure the Republicans would have, if Jones were to win the primary. Thus, ignoring this issue now would potentially leave the Democratic party without an eligible candidate on the ballot in November, ceding the election to the Republican party unchallenged.
I Will Honor My Oath.

As candidates, we take an oath and we give our word. I promise to honor my oath and to fight for the people of this district to improve their lives in meaningful ways.

All candidates should be held accountable and – at a minimum – should meet the qualifications for candidacy before taking on the enormous responsibility of holding public office.
How Can You Help?

After first pursuing other options before filing suit, we quickly realized the administrative procedure for the State of Florida takes far too long and would not be completed before the primary. Uncovering the truth requires additional resources from the campaign that we did not anticipate.

Any help that you can give in the form of a donation would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Today is the last day to register to vote ([link removed]) in the primary on August 23rd. If you haven't already checked your status, please do so today!
