John,
Every year, United for a Fair Economy publishes a “State of the Dream” report that looks at the state of racial economic inequality in the US. The report, written in honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has a different theme each year (view our past reports <[link removed]>).
We are excited to share that the 2020 State of the Dream report will be focused around the influences and intersections of gender and race in the fight for a fair economy!
Some would have you believe that gender discrimination is a thing of the past. But this ignores the lived experiences of women, trans, and non-binary people everywhere, and particularly women of color. From the #MeToo Movement to Black Lives Matter, the new report will explore the question: “What does intersectional gender justice look like, and what work still needs to be done to achieve Dr. King’s dream of true equality for all?”
UFE has chosen a special release date to honor a woman whose contributions to the movement cannot be overlooked. The 2020 State of the Dream report (typically released on MLK Day) will be published on Coretta Scott King’s birthday, April 27th. Coretta Scott King was one of the most important leaders for racial, economic, and gender justice of her time, who committed her life to building a more fair society.
“I'm more determined than ever that my
husband's dream will become a reality.”
-Coretta Scott King
We are excited to share this news with you and look forward to the report’s release in April! If you would like to support our efforts to build a fair economy, please make a gift today. <[link removed]>
