Make your gift to stand up to opponents of religious freedom who are attacking your faith

[link removed]

Dear John,

When you hear the phrase “opponents of religious freedom,” who do you think of?

Over the next couple of weeks, you’ll see how activist groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) are wielding their vast resources and influence to attack your right to religious freedom.

And these groups aren’t the only ones threatening your freedom.

Some government officials are using their power to chip away at the foundation of the First Amendment. They claim that your religious freedom should no longer be protected by the law. And they’re pushing through policies and laws that deny your freedom to live and work consistently with your faith.

As you’ll read below, these opponents of religious freedom are primed, well-funded, and ready for a fight.

Most people would be powerless on their own to fight back against massive activist organizations or defend themselves against their own government. But praise God that because of you, your brave brothers and sisters in Christ have hope. They have allies who will stand with them and fight for them.

John, your gift helps provide the resources that allow ADF clients to stand strong in the face of these attacks on their freedoms—and yours.

Will you prayerfully consider what you can give today to stand against these efforts to strip away your religious freedom?

Believing what God says is not bigotry

Last year, a billboard attacking ADF was plastered in Times Square in New York City.

The anti-ADF campaign was inspired by the SPLC, which labels ADF as a “hate group” for defending people who are living according to their deeply held beliefs.

These are beliefs that you probably share, John: Marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Life is sacred from conception until natural death. God created man in His image—male and female.

Opponents of religious freedom like the SPLC and ACLU have decided that these beliefs are no longer welcome in the public square. And they’re working to influence corporate, media, and government officials to silence you.

In many ways, they’re succeeding.

Here are just of a few of the tactics opponents of religious freedom are using to target people of faith like you:

They’re trying to control who you donate to in order to cut off funding to faith-based groups like ADF. One way they do this is by pressuring credit card companies and banks to stop processing gifts to groups on the SPLC’s “hate” list. One large investment firm recently refused to process a $10,000 gift to ADF because of the “hate” label. They’re also threatening the tax-exempt status of groups you might support. In fact, members of the House Ways and Means Committee recently argued that nonprofit groups, such as those labeled a “hate group” by the SPLC for defending Christian principles, should lose their tax-exempt status.

They’re weaponizing corporate America and the government to blacklist Christians and conservatives like you. From corporate giants such as Amazon to social media companies, people of faith and groups like Alliance Defending Freedom are being censored and banned. In recent years, the SPLC’s “hate group” label has even been used to slander potential judges and government officials with ties to ADF.

They’re threatening peaceful Americans who exercise their religious freedom. More state governments are using sexual orientation and gender identity laws to target people of faith. Michigan even took things a step further by launching a new Hate Crimes Unit, increasing government hostility toward organizations falsely labeled as “hate” groups. This is the same state where a local government kicked ADF client Country Mill Farms out of its farmer’s market for simply expressing their beliefs about marriage in a Facebook post!

John, opponents of religious freedom don’t just disagree with your beliefs—they want to silence them. They’ve made that abundantly clear.

By giving today, you will help us finish the year strong so that we can fight back against threats to your freedom right now—and in the year ahead.

Your gift to stand against these hostile attacks on your faith makes a difference

Every year, ADF receives around 3,000 legal requests. Many of these calls come from people of faith like you who are being punished for living out their beliefs. They are small business owners, church members, and students—everyday people who simply want to honor God with their life and work.

They desperately need help to defend their God-given right to religious freedom. And because ADF doesn’t charge clients for the legal defense we provide, their fight wouldn’t be possible without you.

This year, we’re trusting God for $10.3 million to provide a strong legal defense for religious freedom right now—and in the year ahead.

Providing that defense is critical. The SPLC and ACLU are backed by hundreds of millions of dollars. They are demanding that the government deny your right to peacefully live out your religious beliefs. And their demands will only grow stronger.

That’s why your year-end gift to stand up to activist government officials and groups like the ACLU and SPLC is urgently needed now.

Not just to fight back—but to win.

And we do win.

Through God’s provision and your faithful support, Alliance Defending Freedom has established a successful track record in defense of religious freedom. You’ve helped us secure ten victories at the U.S. Supreme Court since 2011. And we’re winning nearly 80 percent of all cases.

John, with every case you fund, every victory you help achieve, and every client you lift up in prayers, you empower more of your brothers and sisters in Christ to stand boldly for freedom for us all.

And God will use your gift today to help protect our most cherished freedoms once again.
