Mike Garcia has made some absolutely despicable votes during his time in Congress, but this latest vote has to be one of the worst.
Last week, he – along with 196 other Republicans – voted against the Right to Contraception Act that would enshrine the right to birth control into federal law. With Roe v. Wade overturned, this is a full-on assault on the life and liberty of anyone with a uterus.
The far-right GOP thinks our long-held and hard-fought for rights, like the right to privacy, the right to make our own healthcare decisions, and the right to choose when and if to have children, are up for renegotiation. They can think again. And we're going to hold them accountable at the polls in November.
It's 2022, and we should NOT be debating whether or not people should have a right to basic privacy protections like using birth control or having an abortion.
