In eight days, voters in Michigan will cast their ballots in two decisive primary elections between pro-Israel leaders and those who seek to undermine the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The race in Michigan-11 is particularly notable. AIPAC is strongly supporting Rep. Haley Stevens, a pro-Israel congresswoman who has also been backed by Hillary Clinton and EMILY’s List.
Haley Stevens is an outspoken leader who proudly works to strengthen America’s partnership with Israel. She stands with the overwhelming majority of Democrats in Congress who support Israel and the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Andy Levin represents the fringe wing that is working to undermine the U.S.-Israel relationship. He is spearheading a bill to recognize the Western Wall as "occupied Palestinian territory" and is often allied with Israel’s most outspoken critics in Congress. He is supported by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and J Street.
Winning races like this one isn’t just about defeating detractors, it’s also about strengthening the pro-Israel foundation in Congress.
Defeating Andy Levin would remove one hostile voice, but as important, ensuring Haley Stevens wins would cement a pro-Israel champion in the Democratic party.
Already this cycle, we have helped ten pro-Israel leaders—nine Democrats and one Republican—defeat anti-Israel challengers. Together, we are strengthening bipartisan support in Congress for the U.S.-Israel relationship and preventing the Squad from growing larger.
These political battles will continue for years to come. Our community must grow stronger to take on these threats and support our friends.
Thank you for your leadership and support.
