It's happening, Friend.

First, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump succeeded in installing Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade – ending abortion care for more than 30 million Americans across dozens of states. Now, the GOP is going even further with its agenda, attempting to prosecute those who travel to seek an abortion. They are trying to limit our right to travel freely within our own country.

Worse still, Republicans in Washington are gearing up for a national abortion ban – and they are banking on taking back majorities in Congress to do it. Legislation has already been drawn up in the House of Representatives, and Mitch McConnell says a national ban is on the table if the GOP retakes the Senate. If he has the majority by just one vote, he will abolish the filibuster and move forward. Then all bets are off.

The Republican Party's hypocrisy on this matter is sickening. On the one hand, they are legislating control over women's bodies because they claim they are pro "life", while they simultaneously enable the slaughter of innocents because they are more devoted to the ideology that anyone should have access to weapons of war like assault rifles than they actually are to protecting life.

Today's GOP is soulless and lost, and they cannot be allowed to retake control in Washington. That's why it's critical we continue to show that the majority of Americans stand against their dangerous agenda. So, I have an important request:

I want you to know that I'm fighting with all the power I have in the Senate to stop Republican attacks on women's bodily autonomy. In fact, I've helped introduce legislation that will use the power of the federal government to preempt any state law designed to punish those seeking abortion care across state lines. I will also continue the fight – with many other like-minded colleagues – to increase safety in our nation by diminishing gun violence through common sense legislation.

We simply cannot sit on our hands as the GOP unleashes a dystopian, anti-women, anti-life agenda that the vast majority of Americans don't support. Their attacks on our fundamental civil and human rights are more in line with the work of autocratic dictators than our democratic republic.
