Jack, I often write in these emails that Daily Kos is "the country's largest progressive news and activism hub" but what exactly does that mean?
  • Instead of promoting false balance, we take sides. In fact, we even go beyond having a clear editorial slant. At Daily Kos, in all our staff stories, as well as over email, text and social media, we include grassroots actions you can take on the news you are reading: contacting your elected officials, fundraising, Getting Out the Vote (GOTV), and connecting you with allied advocacy organizations.
  • We give our community a real voice. This means not only letting readers post comments–a minimal interactive service that most other news outlets are ending– but giving them the ability to publish their own articles, and even to determine which community article appears high up on the front page of our website for an extended period of time. In fact, many of our most widely read articles are written by our community!

  • While the primary source of revenue for most media outlets is advertising, at Daily Kos, our largest source of income are small donations from our community of readers and activists. This makes us accountable to our grassroots donors, rather than to big corporate advertisers or a small number of wealthy contributors.
There is nothing else like Daily Kos, anywhere. We are unapologetically progressive, activist, community driven, grassroots-funded news you can do something about. If Daily Kos were to disappear tomorrow, nothing would take our place because there is nothing like Daily Kos out there.

That's why I am asking for your help. Daily Kos needs to raise $152,469 by the end of the month to reach our monthly fundraising goal. Can you don't $5 right now to support our work?

DONATE

Thanks for all you do,
Amanda McKay, Daily Kos
