HANDS OFF OUR RIGHTS:
What Does Roe v Wade mean here in the UK?Â
📣 Join our online event: Wednesday 10th August 6pm 📣
It's been one month since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that affirmed the right to abortion in the US. Abortion is now banned in at least eight states across America and the ripple effect is being felt across the world.Â
But what does the ruling mean here in the UK? Our reproductive rights are under threat here too.
Join Fawcett Society, BPAS - British Pregnancy Advisory Service, Back Off Scotland, Women's Equality Network Wales and the Alliance for Choice, as we discuss the reverberations of the US Supreme Court ruling. We will also hear about the campaigning work happening across our four nations in our fight for reproductive justice and learn more about how we can support women internationally without access to abortion.Â
Maya Oppenheim, Women’s Correspondent at The Independent, will host an incredible line-up of panelists who will discuss and respond to the impact of Roe v Wade here in the UK, including:
➡️ Jess Phillips: Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding
➡️ Nzingha Hall: an Atlanta, Georgia based abortion doula, reproductive health counselor and financial coordinator
➡️ Kaukab Stewart: SNP MSP for Glasgow KelvinÂ
➡️ Katherine O'Brien: Associate Director of Communications and Campaigns at BPASÂ
We know so many of you, our wonderful supporters, have been shocked, upset and angry - it's time to channel our pain and to find out how we can stand up for our reproductive rights!
