Peter Lyford may be the Maine GOP’s most extreme anti-abortion candidate yet. In a recent interview he told the Christian Civic League of Maine that he is against ALL abortions — even in cases where a pregnant person’s life is at risk.

Beliefs like this have no place in Maine, but Maine Republicans don’t care. By supporting candidates like Peter Lyford, they’re putting the lives of every pregnant person in Maine in danger.

Without Roe, abortion access isn’t guaranteed. We need to ensure Maine remains a state where reproductive care is accessible, safe, and legal. Will you keep extremism out of our politics by donating $5 to keep Republicans like Peter Lyford out of office?

Governor Mills and Maine Democrats have worked hard to make sure that Maine has some of the strongest abortion protections in the country. But if we lose seats to people like Peter Lyford, all of that progress is at risk.

If the GOP is supporting candidates who want to ban abortions with no exceptions — not even for the life for the pregnant person — there’s no saying how much farther they’ll go in their fight to criminalize reproductive care.
