Dear Friend,
As your Attorney General, it’s my job to advance public safety across our state, protect victims, and improve our criminal justice system.
This year, our office was asked to investigate violations of the Victims Rights’ Act in the San Luis Valley and, more recently, to step in to run that office after the District Attorney resigned. I went to the Valley last week to listen and work to return the prosecutor's office to what people need and deserve. My thoughts were captured well in the local newspaper [[link removed]] .
In addition to this work and our engagement with our rural communities, we have worked on cases involving a spree of crimes against Asian Americans in Fort Collins, an organized criminal bike theft ring in Boulder, a “no body” homicide case in Pueblo, and a major drug trafficking case being prosecuted in Adams County–to name a few.
At our office, we are working hard to support effective law enforcement. That’s why I pushed for millions of dollars in new resources to recruit new police, train them effectively, and keep them on the force. We are now redesigning the law enforcement academy curriculum for the first time in 40 years–work that I am committed to completing in a second term.
