Ensuring access to comprehensive, inclusive, and affordable abortion care is more important than ever. We need Governor Hogan to release critical funding to increase access to abortion care in Maryland.

During the 2022 session, the Maryland General Assembly passed the Abortion Care Access Act. One of the most critical components of is the Abortion Care Clinical Training Program, which requires an annual appropriation starting in FY 2024. The MDGA also set aside $3.5 million in the FY 2023 budget in case the program needed to be started sooner.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, over two-thirds of Maryland counties do not have a single abortion provider. And abortion access is only going to get worse. Maryland providers are already seeing people from states as far away as Texas.
Given the outcome of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, we need the governor to release the $3.5m in FY 2023 funds for the Abortion Care Clinical Training Program.
