Fundraising
As noted in many media outlets, Vedat has raised the most money of any candidate in this race, and he has $100,000 cash on hand more than the incumbent with only one month left until primary day. The New York Post outlined Vedat’s fundraising this weekend, calling him Bowman’s “chief primary opponent.” The Post also noted, “ Rep. Jamaal Bowman — despite the advantages of his incumbency — also came up short to his chief primary opponent, Westchester County Legislator Vedat Gashi. Bowman’s second quarter haul of $255,829, trailed Gashi’s $301,366…Bowman has around $100,000 less cash on hand than Gashi heading into the home stretch.”
Senator Jamaal Bailey BBQ in the Bronx
Vedat stopped by Senator Jamaal Bailey’s barbecue in the Bronx on Saturday. The Bronx has always had a special meaning for him – it became his home after his family fled oppression in Kosovo. He always loves returning and connecting with voters (and Vedat can never turn down playing a game of chess!)
Candidate Forum
On Monday evening, Vedat participated in a candidate’s forum hosted by the Scarsdale Democrats, the Mamaroneck Democrats, and the White Plains Democrats. You can view the forum HERE. He laid out his vision for NY-16 and stressed the importance of working with fellow Democrats on Democratic priorities, like implementing President Biden’s infrastructure plan, strongly standing with our allies Israel and Ukraine, and protecting women’s reproductive rights.
Door Knocking
Vedat spent the week knocking on doors and meeting voters in their communities across the district, from the Bronx to Greenburgh and Rye to Yonkers. Here are photos of him greeting commuters on their way to work at the Harrison Train Station and at their doors in Dobbs Ferry and Eastchester.
