IRC REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN

Jay Kramer

This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend the Sunshine Summit in Hollywood with so many like-minded conservative people. The Summit included guest speakers, panel discussions, and other programming featuring top Florida Republican officials and the nation’s leading conservative voices. The focus was on Congressional debates where Republicans have an opportunity to take four more Congressional seats this year due to redistricting. This is extremely important because our Governor steered redistricting in Florida and the balance of power in Congress is likely to change this November. Governor Ron DeSantis was the main speaker for the Victory Dinner with an inspiring main message praising all Republicans for their efforts in voter registration. Florida now has 220,000 more Republican registrations than Democrats which has moved us from purple to red in the eyes of the Nation. The Governor took a stance against the woke movement, Disney, the mass media, and the “Brandon” administration. The country is following Florida’s lead; other conservative states notice gubernatorial policy and legislative initiatives. The Governor once again reminded everyone that this is the year of parents’ rights. The legislature passed bills which the governor signed, sending a strong message by banning CRT because it is not right to teach our kids to hate our country or each other, but rather, we need to instill an understanding of civics and real history. We are not going to allow sexual instruction in our schools. Education is so important that the Governor personally got involved in school board races. He recognized those candidates who he endorsed, including our own Jackie Rosario, running for re-election in District 2. This upcoming election is our opportunity to be a part of the Red Wave and make sure we put to bed the “woke” movement.

Appeals Court: Florida Abortion Law to Remain in Place

  • The Florida 1st District Court of Appeal ruled by a margin of 2-1 that the state’s 15-week abortion law will remain in place through the legal process of challenges and beyond
  • In early July, Judge John Cooper placed a temporary injunction on the law, claiming that it violates protections granted in the state Constitution
  • The state immediately challenged, causing the law to go into effect. Plaintiffs then filed an emergency seeking a hold on the law through the appeals process, making it unenforceable again
  • With the Court of Appeal’s denial of the hold, Florida’s abortion law is set to go into effect

In case you missed it, the Republican National Committee (RNC) launched a new minority outreach initiative – the Republican Civics Initiative (RCI).

This new program is designed to help future voters prepare for the civics portion of the naturalization test. RNC staff who are certified U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) instructors will train lawful permanent residents (LPR) in accordance with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS civics curriculum.

Right now, more than 9.2 million LPRs, “green card” holders who legally reside within the United States who are unable to vote in federal elections or hold federal office, are eligible to naturalize.

“The RNC is growing our Party through purposeful education and engagement. Our commitment to provide opportunities for all to live out the American dream is broadening our base because our ideas transcend all backgrounds. Unlike Democrats, Republicans do not take minority communities for granted and we will continue to work to earn each vote ahead of November,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel of the new program.

The first training course was held on Thursday, July 14, in Doral, Florida at the RNC Hispanic Community Center, with additional trainings to be held in battleground states across the country including Texas, Georgia, Nevada, California, Pennsylvania and more.

Democrats Bleeding Voter Registration Advantage Under Joe Biden

All across the United States, the Democratic party is losing an advantage it has long enjoyed in voter registration.

New data on the trend from pundit Larry Sabato confirms that Republicans now overtake Democrats in states like Florida and Kentucky for the first time in years, the Washington Examiner reported.

The gains have been pronounced in states like Florida, a former swing state that voted for President Trump twice and which has become a bastion of conservative reaction under Governor Ron DeSantis, and Kentucky, where Democrats had 186,000 more voters just two summers ago.

Some of the shift could be a “lagging indicator” of trends that have been underway for years in formerly blue states like West Virginia and Kentucky, the newsletter Sabato’s Crystal Ball told the Examiner.

The red shift has accelerated under Joe Biden. A separate analysis by the Associated Press found that two-thirds of all voters who switched affiliation in the past 12 months joined the Republican party. That comes out to about 1 million new Republicans.

Democrats are bleeding supporters particularly in the nation’s swingy suburbs, the AP reported. Suburban voters were essential to Democrat victories in 2018 and 2020.

Test of Sanity by Bill O’Reilly

The midterm elections will test the sanity of Americans as our country is suffering under progressive leadership. There are no two sides to this story. The violent crime wave and the punishing inflation rate are both the result of far-left "leadership." So is the open border disaster.
One wonders what an ad campaign for democrats would look like. "Vote for me if you want to go broke and become a crime victim!"
Sound good?
Ardent liberals are pinning their faint midterm election hopes on abortion and climate change. But with working people getting hammered and the inner-city poor in actual physical danger, social issues will not obscure incompetence.

And sadly, for him, many progressives have given up on President Biden. It is over for him.
The only thing that might rally the left is Donald Trump officially declaring his candidacy for President. Maybe his slogan will be: "Grover Cleveland came back, so can I!"
If Mr. Trump announces prematurely, democrats and their trusty media allies will make the November vote all about him in an attempt to obscure the real issues. That worked with Biden.
Right now, Mr. Trump is leading republican polling by a significant margin. He should wait to throw in with old Grover.
Epoch Times Says DeSantis Welcomed Like a Pop Star at Conference for Young Conservatives Student Action Summit
By Nanette Holt
July 22-24, 2022

White fireworks shot up from the stage, music with a heavy bass boomed, and smoke billowed. Then, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis emerged, tossing autographed baseball caps to a screaming crowd of 5,000 young conservatives in Tampa on July 22.

His appearance wrapped up the first day of the Student Action Summit, a three-day conference by Turning Point Action, part of Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA. The annual gathering draws teens and 20-somethings from all over the country and serves as a pep rally of conservatism.

A wide range of speakers, from politicians to television personalities, spent about 20-40 minutes each encouraging the young audience. They were urged to stand up for their values and truth, reject woke ideology and the efforts to indoctrinate them, get married and have children, and fight back against the overreach of government.

Most speakers poked fun at those espousing progressive and liberal ideologies and woke corporations, contrasting them against their conservative views. They urge the students to “save the country.”

Think for Yourself

Turning Point USA founder, podcaster, and author Charlie Kirk kicked off the high-energy conference on Day 1.
Then, to thunderous cheers, attendees welcomed neurosurgeon Ben Carson to the stage. Carson served as Secretary of U.S. Housing and Urban Development under former President Donald Trump.

“It’s always so good to see young people with common sense,” Carson said with his trademark calm.
He told a story about making the right decision as a young resident doctor, breaking hospital rules to perform life-saving surgery. The patient was dying, he said, and his supervisor wasn’t available to grant permission for the operation. Carson took him to the operating room anyway.

The patient survived and went on to become a psychologist, thanks to his decision to “do the right thing,” despite difficult circumstances, surgeon said.

He urged students to think for themselves and get involved in fighting Marxist policies creeping into society. And he urged them to stay hopeful.

“All this radicalism is waking people up, and that’s a good thing,” Carson said. “It’s always darkest before the dawn. And I believe that dawn is coming.”

‘Will You Join Me’

Next to rally the students who were jammed into the packed hall of the Tampa Convention Center was U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.).

Wearing jeans and a T-shirt, Hawley told students, “You’re not just the future of our movement; you’re not just the future of this country. You are the present. You are what is going to save this country. You are what is going to take this country back.”

Hawley drew loud cheers for mentioning the Supreme Court decision in June to overturn Roe v. Wade, giving decisions about abortion restrictions back to states. His wife, attorney Erin Hawley, argued part of that case on the winning side, he said. Hawley went on to mock social changes pushed by progressives, such as referring to women as “people with a birthing capacity” and saying it’s “transphobic” to reject the notion that “men can get pregnant.”

It’s “insanity,” the 42-year-old senator said.

“If you don’t agree with it, you are a bigot,” he said, echoing the reasoning from the far left. “If you don’t agree with it and won’t affirm it, then you’re responsible for violence.”
He urged students to get involved politically.

“What you have, this nation needs,” he said. “What you have will turn this country around.”

But, he said, “Unfortunately, the right has not always been there to defend this country.”

“Contemporary conservatives, a lot of times, they’ve been a heck of a lot more interested in fighting their foreign wars and in boosting the profits of multinational corporations and sending our jobs overseas and hollowing out our towns and industries,” he said.

He said that conservatives haven’t fought hard enough “for our families, and our neighborhoods, and our homes, and our churches,” he said. “And ladies and gentlemen, that has to change, and you’re the ones to change it.”

“If you’re waiting for the cavalry to arrive, to come and save the day, I’ve got news for you. Look left. Look right. You are the cavalry.”

And he challenged them to “embrace the truth.”

“The best thing you can do for your campuses, the best thing you can do for your families, the best thing you can do for this country” is to be courageous, disagree with the Left’s “insanity,” and “say I am not going to back down, I’m going to stand for the truth!”

“These are the times when our lives make a difference,” Hawley said. “And I don’t know about you, but I look forward to telling my children, ‘In a time that mattered, at a time when everything was on the line, at a time when the future of this country was on the line, I did everything I could. I stood for the truth. I stood for America. I held the line.’ “Will you join me?”

Their Policies are ‘Nuts’

Next, U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) echoed the warnings about the progressive ideology.

“They’re trying to demonize, delegitimize, denigrate, and ultimately disassemble the Supreme Court of the United States” by trying to pack it by giving President Joe Biden the power to appoint four more justices to the Supreme Court, he said.

“If they do that, we won’t have a Supreme Court anymore. We’ll have another political branch. We don’t want that, and we must stop it.”

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) riled up students further with a tirade laced with expletives and crude language about Democrat policies.

He predicted a tsunami of Republican victories in the November mid-term elections. “The more crazy they get, part of me weeps, and part of me celebrates,” he said.

That’s because liberals and progressives are bound to realize soon that their policies are “nuts,” he said.
“Revival is coming,” he predicted.

America Fighting Back

After Cruz, DeSantis brought the room’s energy to its highest level of the day. He described his leadership of Florida to cheers from the crowd.

He poked fun at Biden and expressed frustration over the effects of the president’s policies on the country while wishing him a speedy recovery from COVID-19.

“And I also want to wish the United States of America a speedy recovery from Joe Biden,” he followed.

DeSantis is considered a frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president in 2024. But he has consistently deflected questions about a potential run for the White House.

As the room rumbled with applause and cheers for DeSantis, 31-year-old animator Zachary Johnson from Lake Alfred, Florida, pumped his fist and said, “You can’t stop the Florida Man!”

Leading political analysts expect a DeSantis to win reelection in November.

Indeed, the number of registered Republican voters bypassed Democrats for the first time in the state’s history in 2021.

“I think you’re going to see a red wave this November,” DeSantis told the crowd. “I can tell you, in Florida, you’re gonna see a red wave!” “Get ready for battle—put on the full armor of God,” he said. “This November is going to be the time America fought back.”

Straw Poll at Student Action Summit Picks Trump 4-1

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday easily won the Turning Point USA straw poll, outdistancing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis by a 4-to-1 margin among young conservatives attending the event.

Trump showed his continued strength for a possible 2024 presidential campaign, capturing 78.7% of the support from the millennial and GenZ attendees at the Florida event.

About 19% said they would vote for DeSantis if he were to run in 2024, 1% said they’d vote for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, 0.5% preferred former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; while 0.3% each endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, former Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Both DeSantis and Trump gave keynote speeches at the summit, with the former president sending a clear signal he may run for a second term in 2024.

“We’re going to take back our liberty. We’re going to take back our destiny. We’re going to take back, very soon, our country,” Trump said to cheers.

Gov Denounces the Cuban Regime’s Attempts to Steal from Americans with Deceitful Foreign Investment Policies

On July 22, Governor Ron DeSantis directed the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and Enterprise Florida to issue an alert warning Floridians not to let the communist Cuban regime steal their money through a recent scheme seeking to attract foreign investment for the “non-state sector.” Over the past year and a half, the Biden administration has rolled back American sanctions on Cuba and has failed to assist the Cuban people in their fight for freedom. This has emboldened the racketeers who run the Cuban regime to launch a kleptocratic scheme claiming that they will welcome American investment in the island’s supposed private sector, but foreign investment is meaningless when there are no property rights for Cuban citizens and when the Cuban government will limit which ostensibly private businesses will be allowed to receive foreign funds.

Cuban citizens have no means to leverage investments to elevate their circumstances and all Floridians who might be considering “investing” in Cuba’s “private sector” should be aware that their money will inevitably end up in the pockets of Raúl Castro, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the rest of the Cuban mafia who will use that cash to continue to enrich themselves, impoverish their people, and further destabilize the Western Hemisphere.

“One year ago, we witnessed the largest demonstrations in decades against the Cuban regime in cities and towns across the island. With some additional pressure from our federal government, those protests may well have marked the downfall of the communist regime,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Unfortunately, the Biden administration stood idly by as the people of Cuba cried out for freedom, refusing even to authorize the provision of satellite internet by American companies. The weak policies of this administration have led the regime to attempt to perpetrate a financial fraud against the American people under the guise of private investment opportunities. Only when Cuba allows free elections, stops jailing people in the middle of the night for simply saying they want human rights, and ensures private property rights for its citizens should the American people feel confident that money sent across the straits will truly benefit the Cuban people and not the racketeers who run their regime like a mafia.”

“The same regime that robbed Cubans, like my parents, of their livelihoods is now desperately begging Americans to ‘invest’ in the island,” said Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. “This scheme is nothing more than a scam that fools only the sympathizers in the Biden administration.”

Governor DeSantis understands that almost all instability in the Western Hemisphere can be traced back to the Cuban regime and has previously said, “If you want to have a good Western Hemisphere and not have all of these problems in places like Venezuela and Nicaragua, then you should want to see a change in the regime in Havana because Havana has for decades spawned all kinds of disruptions and oppressions throughout the Western Hemisphere.”

Governor DeSantis will continue to support the cause of freedom in Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Colombia, and throughout Latin America. Florida is proud to be an oasis of freedom and welcomes those who come here legally to escape oppression, but just as Americans shouldn’t have to flee lockdown states to enjoy their God-given liberties in the Sunshine State, so too should the people of Latin American not have to flee their homelands to escape the Cuban government or the instability it foments in our hemisphere. Floridians should not be tricked into funding the regime in Havana under the guise of foreign investment.

Ron DeSantis Announces Drop in Florida Unemployment Rate to 2.8%, Despite National Economic Conditions

Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida’s June 2022 data indicates that Florida’s unemployment rate dropped to 2.8 percent, despite national economic conditions. Florida’s statewide unemployment rate has declined or held steady for 23 consecutive months through June 2022. The national unemployment rate remains unchanged over the month at 3.6 percent, 0.8 percent higher than Florida’s rate. Florida’s labor force grew by 40,000 (+0.4 percent) over the month, while the national labor force shrank by 0.2 percent. In June 2022, Florida’s labor force grew by 293,000 (+2.8 percent) over the year, outpacing the national rate of 1.8 percent by 1.0 percentage point.
“Despite Biden administration policies that have produced record inflation, skyrocketing gas prices, and slowing national GDP, Florida continues to outpace the nation with strong job growth and an increasing labor force,” said Governor Ron DeSantis.
“Florida’s unemployment rate has remained lower than the nation for 19 consecutive months and is now close to a full percentage point lower than the nation as a whole. June’s data demonstrates once again that our freedom first approach is working for Floridians.”

Data in the month of June continues to indicate there are many job opportunities available for Floridians throughout the state, with more than 603,000 jobs posted online. Floridians in search of work and new job opportunities are encouraged to turn to the CareerSource Florida network for help. Floridians can find guidance on how to register with Employ Florida and search listings of available local job openings. Career seekers also can improve their employability by perfecting resume writing and interviewing skills, establishing career goals, and pursuing customized career training. These services are provided at no cost to job seekers.

Florida Economic Indicators for June 2022 include:

  • Unemployment rate is 2.8 percent, down 0.1 percent from the revised previous month’s rate and 0.8 percent lower than the national rate.
  • Florida’s statewide unemployment rate has been lower than the national rate for 19 consecutive months since December 2020.
  • Florida’s statewide unemployment rate has declined or held steady for 23 consecutive months.
  • Between June 2021 and June 2022, Florida’s labor force grew by 293,000, or 2.8 percent, faster than the national labor force growth rate of 1.8 percent over the year.
  • Between June 2021 and June 2022, total private sector employment grew by 452,100 jobs (5.8 percent), faster than the national private sector job growth rate of 4.9 percent over the year.
  • As of June 2022, Florida employers have added jobs for 26 consecutive months since May 2020. Florida’s private sector over-the-year job growth rate has exceeded the Nation’s for 15 consecutive months since April 2021.

Private sector industries gaining the most jobs over the month were:
  • Leisure and Hospitality with 12,100 new jobs.
  • Education and Health Services with 7,800 new jobs
  • Other Services with 3,800 new jobs.
  • Financial Activities with 3,200 new jobs.

First Lady Casey DeSantis Makes Major Announcements to Support Hope Florida - A Pathway to Prosperity Initiative
First Lady Casey DeSantis held a roundtable discussion to highlight how the State of Florida is working to support and empower Florida’s foster and adoptive families through the Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity initiative. The Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity initiative, spearheaded by First Lady DeSantis and implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families, utilizes ‘Care Navigators’ to guide Floridians on an individualized path to prosperity by focusing on community collaboration between the private sector, faith-based community, nonprofits, and government entities to break down traditional community silos in an effort to maximize resources and uncover opportunities. The goal is to help individuals realize economic self-sufficiency and prosperity.

The event included major announcements that further enhance the comprehensive network of support that the state is cultivating with community partners to help those in need. Those announcements and highlights include:
1.  An expansion of the Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity program to include foster and adoptive families so that they have a comprehensive one-stop-shop to call and connect with dedicated Care Navigators who can offer support and guidance for immediate and future family needs.
2.  A portion of the nearly $70 million secured by Governor DeSantis in the Freedom First Budget for fatherhood initiatives will go toward mentorship opportunities for Florida’s children, including foster children, through Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity.
3.  $35.5 million in Governor DeSantis’ budget will support nearly 59,000 Florida families with a one-time payment of $450 per child, which includes foster families.
4.   Launch of the First Lady’s “Hope Florida Fund” that harnesses the charity of the private sector to give funds to deserving local entities. Today, First Lady DeSantis presented two checks of $5,000 each to two Tampa non-profits: Sleep in Heavenly Peace and A Life New Warehouse.

“We are doubling down on bringing together public and private groups to collaborate and communicate with and on behalf of Floridians,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. “We are going beyond government by bringing community partners to the table to meet the needs of foster and adoptive families under the umbrella of my Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity initiative. I am on a mission to make sure that no child in Florida goes without hope, happiness, and a home. That means doing everything we can to support those who have stepped up and welcomed these children into their homes, as well as local partners that are already lending families a helping hand.”

To receive support from Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity, Floridians can call the Hope Line at 850-300-HOPE. Additional information can be found at HopeFlorida.com.

Prospective foster parents can call 1-83 Foster FL to connect with current or former foster parents.

Through the newly launched Hope Florida Fund, the First Lady will continue to recognize local organizations across the state that are instilling hope and meeting needs in their communities.

 ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHLEY MOODY

AG Moody Asks Biden Administration to Classify Fentanyl as Weapon of Mass Destruction

Last week, AG Ashley Moody urged President Joe Biden to classify illicit fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, a WMD is defined as a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other device that is intended to harm a large number of people. In 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate assessed that “fentanyl is very likely a viable option for a chemical weapon attack.”
We have seen a meteoric increase in deaths across the country related to fentanyl, and this month alone Florida has seen two mass fentanyl overdose events. Last Tuesday, in Tampa, police responded to a convenience store where seven individuals were found unresponsive after consuming drugs laced with fentanyl. Over the recent Fourth of July weekend in Gadsden County, at least 19 people overdosed on fentanyl. Back in March, five West Point cadets overdosed on cocaine mixed with fentanyl while on spring break in Wilton Manors—exposing a first responder who also overdosed attempting to resuscitate the cadets.
According to reports, more than 75,000 Americans died last year due to opioids, with the primary killer being fentanyl. Now, more than 200 Americans die every day from opioids, and fentanyl is the number one killer of adults aged 18-45, claiming more young lives than cancer, car accidents, COVID-19 or suicide.
Classifying this deadly drug as a WMD enables and requires more parts of the federal government to coordinate a uniform response, including the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Defense.
“The federal government already works to disrupt the supply chains of other chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapons—it’s not hard to imagine that similar tactics could be used to reduce the flow of illicit fentanyl into the U.S.—and save countless American lives. I am urging the president to take immediate and decisive steps to protect Americans from this poison flooding into our country. I am committed to doing everything in my power to stop this deadly substance, and we will continue to raise these alarms, to build a Stronger, Safer Florida.”

SENATOR MARCO RUBIO

Rubio, Cruz Introduce Bill to Reimpose Terrorism Sanctions on FARC
On November 30, 2021, the Biden Administration removed the Revolutionary Forces of Colombia (FARC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Senator Marco Rubio criticized the decision, calling it “a step backwards for the stability and security of Colombia.”

In response, Rubio and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently introduced a bill to reimpose terrorism sanctions on the FARC and re-designate the guerilla group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The bill would also impose terrorism sanctions on seven individuals affiliated with the group. Five of these individuals were recently summoned by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace for their involvement in the trafficking and forced recruitment of children.

The seven individuals are:
  1. José Benito Cabrera Cuevas (Alias Fabián Ramírez)
  2. Erasmo Traslavina Benavides (Alias Jimmy Guerrero)
  3. Emiro Ropero (Alias Rubén Zamora)
  4. Guillermo Enrique Torres Cueter (Alias Julián Conrado)
  5. Rodrigo Granda (Alias Gallopinto)
  6. Piedad Córdoba
  7. Sandra Ramírez Lobo Silva (Alias Griselda Lobo)

“For decades, the Colombian people have been innocent targets of the FARC’s terrorist attacks. The Biden Administration’s decision to delist this guerilla group as a Foreign Terrorist organization, not only failed the Colombian American community but also set back our region’s security. This bill will also ensure the State Department submits a report on seven individuals’ ties to the FARC, including Sandra Ramirez Lobo Silva and Piedad Córdoba. Since Córdoba’s ties to the FARC are well known, she can expect to be subject to U.S. sanctions if it is enacted,” said Senator Rubio.

“The Biden Administration’s reckless decision to dismantle terrorism sanctions on the FARC has already created catastrophes. It fueled leftwing movements throughout the Western Hemisphere but especially in Colombia, contributing to the momentum that brought a hard-left anti-American government to power. The FARC is responsible for some of the most heinous acts of terror in the western hemisphere, and this decision gave up a key tool through which the U.S. was holding FARC terrorists accountable. My bill will begin to repair the damage of this decision,” said Senator Cruz.

Unity - Calling All Republicans
Time to Come Together

As we approach the 2022 mid-term elections and the 2024 presidential election, and in light of the abject failure of the Biden administration, we know that the very survival of our republic depends on the outcome of those elections. Therefore, we must stay unified. Never lose sight of who our political opponents are… the progressive left Democrats who are taking our country off a cliff with the active help of Big Tech and the old-line national news media. Our fellow Republicans are not the enemy!
