It is now official: the CTF has won intervener status to appear before the Supreme Court of Canada to fight the Trudeau carbon tax!

It’s a very good thing we got in. There are 21 groups intervening, including radical environmental and union groups who support the Trudeau carbon tax like the David Suzuki Foundation, Environmental Defence, Canadian Labour Congress and National Farmers Union. But the CTF is the only non-government entity opposing the tax!
We’ve known for a long time that no matter the outcomes in the lower courts, the legal fight was eventually going to make its way to the Supreme Court.
The court challenges in Saskatchewan and Ontario were both split decisions confirming that there are strong legal arguments against the Trudeau carbon tax.
In Ontario, one dissenting justice made clear that he thought the Trudeau carbon tax was an unconstitutional invasion of provincial powers, wondering whether it could open the door to Ottawa interfering in other inappropriate ways.
In Saskatchewan, the two dissenting justices even called the Trudeau carbon tax “constitutionally repugnant.”
All of which makes clear that the outcome at the Supreme Court will be a hard fought battle – one where we have a real chance of victory.
But we’re up against more than a dozen other union and environmental groups with deep pockets. So we need your help.
