Many of you have seen the beautiful pictures from the Webb telescope that came out this recently. I am so proud to be part of the industry that made this possible.
The Webb telescope uses infrared technology to probe deep into space to see the origins of our universe. While we can’t see the “Big Bang” itself, we can see things that happened relatively shortly after.
By delving into the past, we can understand how the universe works and how it affects us. Besides providing us with breathtaking, poetic, photographs of our universe, it provides us with information vital to our future within this universe.
Space programs are expensive, but especially here in Maryland, where much of the space industry and NASA are located, the number of jobs created, and boost to our economy, make that expense very worthwhile.
Further, the inventions that have come out of NASA, specifically for the space industry, have resulted in thousands of things that have benefited mankind on a daily basis. These include: firefighting equipment, artificial limbs, solar panels, dust buster vacuums, CAT Scans, water filtration devices, laser eye surgery, and even white composite fillings for teeth, just to name a few.
We are happy to share some of the amazing images from the Webb telescope below. As your Congressman I, Gregory Coll, will make sure our national space programs stay strong for the Maryland economy, for the benefit of all peoples’ well-being, and for the future of our planet.
