Hi. It’s me, Ethan, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Swing Left. I’m writing today to do something really unusual for us: I’m asking you to donate to fund Swing Left.

And you’re probably like, “Unusual? I get emails from you every day asking for money!” (You don’t, but I know it feels that way; I get them too.) It's true, we send a lot of fundraising emails, but here's the key: those emails are almost always raising money directly for the candidates in our target races who need it most.

Our fundraising model is simple: send grassroots donations directly to candidates, where small dollars have the greatest impact. Rely on large-dollar donors to fund our operations.

The catch is that it's really hard to find the funds to run an electoral organization year-round, especially in a hectic cycle with 78 presidential campaigns also raising money. Once the election gets closer, it's easier. But, we believe in year-round organizing and last cycle saw the power of starting early. That means a lot of the critical groundwork has to happen now, months before the general election.

So we’re setting a goal to raise $500,000 before year’s end to build the programs and tools we’ll need to unseat Trump and the GOP in 2020. Your dollars will fund tech like our Action Finder tool, field programs in 12 Super States—including battlegrounds like WI and NC—and all the other background work we’ll need to win the Senate, state houses, and the White House. Once you donate, we won’t ask you to donate to Swing Left again during the drive, but we'll still send you the behind-the-scenes looks at our organization as well as any breaking news updates.
