John,
Women are in more danger of being prosecuted for seeking abortions than ever before — but before Roe v. Wade was overturned, overzealous prosecutors were ALREADY prosecuting women for their personal health care decisions whether it was an abortion or even a miscarriage.
Take a look at women already being criminalized for decisions about their own body:
And that’s only a few of the many cases.
In fact, between 2006 to 2020, more than 1,300 women in the United States had been investigated, detained or arrested because of their pregnancy outcomes.
Let's be clear: this situation will only get worse now that eight states and counting have fully banned abortions.
And our DAs are the first line of defense to make sure that women aren't prosecuted so that we don’t see more of these kinds of headlines.
Tens of millions of people have been put in harm’s way as a direct result of this disastrous Supreme Court ruling — and we can't wait for Congress or the Senate to take months or years to protect abortion rights on a federal level.
We need to local DAs who can IMMEDIATELY start working against the ruling by refusing to prosecute against abortion cases.
24 of our elected DAs have already taken the pledge refusing to prosecute women for seeking abortions. But to defend them — and elect more pro-choice DAs — we NEED your support.
In solidarity,
Real Justice
