Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 66 | July 24th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, On Thursday night while at a campaign rally in Monroe County, our Republican nominee for Governor Lee Zeldin was violently attacked by a man with a blade. Thanks to the swift actions of Congressman Zeldin, his running mate, former NYPD commander Alison Esposito, and several eventgoers, no one was seriously harmed. It was only hours earlier that Kathy Hochul fanned the flames of hate by directing her supporters to his rally schedule. This is unacceptable conduct for anyone, let alone a sitting governor. What's worse is that just as Congressman Zeldin predicted, the perpetrator was immediately released with no bail. And on the same night in the same county, two Rochester police officers were shot in the head. One lost his life and the other is fighting for his in the hospital. This is the direct result of the anti-police/pro-criminal environment that Kathy Hochul and the Democrats have created. Our police are under siege and violent criminals are being let free to wreak havoc on our communities. It has to STOP. It's not just violent crime impacting our state. Corruption continues to be alive and well inside the state capital. This week, the Times Union published a devastating expose from the Times Union this week that uncovered a massive pay-for-play scheme. Taking a page right out of Andrew Cuomo's book of corruption, she gave $637 million in no-bid government contracts to a company whose family gave her campaign a staggering $300,000. That's right--while she flies around our state on taxpayer-funded private flights, she is also selling our state government out the back door. She is not Cuomo 2.0... she is even worse! She continues all of this while New Yorkers face back-breaking inflation and gas prices that the Democrats in Washington and Albany refuse to fix. The red wave that will sweep through our state on Election Day can't come soon enough. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman   WATCH: NYGOP Chair Langworthy Calls On Hochul To Release All Communications With Mega-Donor Digital Gadgets LLC Kathy Hochul is ensnared in a MASSIVE pay-to-play scheme doling out $637 million in state contracts to a donor who gave a whopping $300k to her campaign. David Jakubonis, 43, from Fairport, New York, was arraigned overnight in Perinton Town Court on a count of second-degree attempted assault stemming from the attack on Rep. Zeldin but was quickly released on his own recognizance. In a tweet after the violent incident in Monroe County, Zeldin, who is running as a tough-on-crime candidate against incumbent Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, said he expected his alleged assailant to be back on the streets in no time. “His words as he tried to stab me a few hours ago were ‘you’re done’, but several attendees, including @EspositoforNY, quickly jumped into action & tackled the guy,” the gubernatorial hopeful tweeted early Friday. “Law enforcement was on the scene within minutes. The attacker will likely be instantly released under NY’s laws.” Read Full Here Jet-set lifestyle? Republican chairman questions Hochul's use of plane on taxpayer dime CBS 6 Albany There are calls tonight for Governor Kathy Hochul (D-New York) to turn over her full public schedule after reports questioning her use of state funded air travel. The New York Post reported this week that Governor Hochul has flown by helicopter or plane 140 times costing taxpayers upwards of $170,000 since she took office in August 2021. New York State Republican Committee Chairman Nick Langworthy says he believes Hochul may have used the taxpayer funded air travel for personal use and to fundraise, considering she's already raised a whopping $34 million as the Democratic candidate for Governor. She’s living like a billionaire at the expense of the taxpayers of this state you know taking a helicopter jet-set lifestyle,” Langworthy said. “There are times where it’s justified, but are we shuttling the governor around to go to a Buffalo Bills game with her husband? Is there a helicopter being used to take her to a fashion show? Is this the appropriate use of taxpayer money? And I think transparency would cure a lot of this, so iI am calling on Kathy Hochul right now to release the entirety of her schedule,” he continued. Read Full Here A family donated $300K to Hochul. New York has paid the family business $637M. Times Union One New York City family, led by entrepreneur Charlie Tebele, has donated nearly $300,000 to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s campaign. Records also show that since December, Tebele's company was paid $637 million in taxpayer funds to provide the state Department of Health — an agency controlled by Hochul — with at-home COVID-19 test kits. The huge expenditure was made without the agency conducting competitive bidding. Tebele is the longtime owner of Digital Gadgets LLC, a New Jersey-based wholesaler of hoverboards and other electronic devices that sells its wares to companies like the home shopping network QVC. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, the company pivoted to supplying medical equipment, and began landing major government contracts in New York. Though Digital Gadgets has not always delivered as promised, it has continued to reap major government payments, while the family has kept donating heavily to select politicians. The $637 million from the Department of Health began on Dec. 30, and the agency made 239 separate payments through March 25 to Tebele's company, according to state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's OpenBookNY website. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., was arrested Saturday afternoon on a federal assault charge, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of New York announced. David Jakubonis is scheduled to make his first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marion W. Payson Saturday. Zeldin is running for New York governor as a Republican. Jakubonis, 43 of Fairport, New York, has been charged with attempted assault in the second degree on the state level. He was arraigned in Perinton Town Court and released on his own recognizance after the Thursday attack. Before Jakubonis' release, Zeldin predicted that the suspect would be released. Zeldin has promised to fire district attorneys that do not enforce the law. Read Full Here Kathy Hochul’s COVID ‘emergency’ pay-to-play hijinks New York Post Gov. Kathy Hochul very quietly last week declared an absurd extension of the COVID public-health “emergency,” letting her keep extra powers though the pandemic’s clearly over. Among other things, it lets her keep granting no-bid contracts to donors, like Charlie Tebele — whose family gave nearly $300,000 to her campaign and whose Digital Gadgets LLC has netted $637 million in no-bid deals for at-home COVID test kits. She’s exempted the “emergency” purchases from oversight by the state comptroller. The Empire Center’s Bill Hammond warns this flouts laws meant “to protect the taxpayers from paying too much because the state is playing favorites with contractors.” Wonder what donor might score the contract for her newly ordered review of the state’s COVID-19 policies? The gov’s publicly going all-out to boost another donor, Vornado Realty head Steven Roth. He’s given nearly $70,000 to her campaign; his company’s in line for $1.2 billion in tax breaks under her Penn Station redevelopment plan — which looks to be short billions in funding.
