NEWS: Andy Harris just voted against protecting same-sex marriage in Congress.

Our disgraced representative, Andy Harris, voted against making same-sex marriage legal through Congress earlier this week.
After they gutted the right to abortion last month, we know that the MAGA Supreme Court is coming for other freedoms, including the ability to marry the person you love. We should no longer defer to the courts to grant us rights we should secure into law. That’s why Democrats in Congress are wasting no time bringing up important legislation to codify fundamental rights and protections like marriage equality, abortion access, and the right to contraception.
Harris was one of 157 Republicans in the House who voted against same-sex marriage this week. It’s 2022, Andy. Maryland citizens affirmed our support for marriage equality in a referendum in 2012. We will not let you steal these protections from us and our neighbors.
And we know Harris won’t stop here. Between this vote and GOP extremists’ goal to pass an all-out nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions, it’s crucial that we protect and expand our razor-thin Democratic House majority.
A GOP majority in the House wouldn’t hesitate before voting to strip people of these fundamental freedoms and the right to privacy. We must stop them.
Let’s kick out Andy Harris, Maryland’s only anti-LGBTQ+ member of Congress, and replace him with Heather, who would be our state’s only woman and LGBTQ+ voice in the federal delegation.
