John –
The most common thing I hear as I listen to people across the county is that they just want their family to be safe in their community.
I don’t blame them, with violent crime on the rise, and our police forces depleted. We’ve got a lot of work to do to create public safety for everyone in Hennepin County.
But what does it mean if Mary Moriarty, my top opponent, is endorsed by a group whose #1 priority is to "shift resources away from policing"? It means that Mary supports defunding police at a time of rising crime. Hennepin County families can’t afford to give up their safety for Mary Moriarty’s political ambition.
With our next deadline coming up tomorrow, we must send a message. Please, contribute today and make it clear that you want a County Attorney committed to prosecuting violent crime, not pretending it doesn’t exist.
The same defund groups that are supporting my opponent reached out to my campaign too. I told them I would not support police abolition.
They demanded that we stop talking about crime, cut law enforcement, and agree to consult them before making prosecution decisions in order to be considered for their endorsement. That was an automatic no from me.
I’m not willing to put the safety of our communities at risk just to get an endorsement.
Minneapolis said yes to effective policing last year, and now it’s time for Hennepin County to do the same thing.
Chip in to my campaign before tomorrow night’s deadline and send a message that you want safer communities in Hennepin County.
Thank you for fighting back with me,
Ryan
