I’ll keep this email short, but late Friday night in Arizona, twice-impeached disgraced former president Donald Trump held one of his signature hate-filled rallies, and devoted many minutes to riling up his devoted crowd of MAGA followers by attacking me directly.
I’ll spare you most of Trump’s insults and lies, but here’s just some of what he said:
We had people like Shifty Adam Schiff, and others, who stand before the same microphones, the exact same microphones, doing the exact same thing as they did with Russia, Russia, Russia. Think of it. To tell you how bad a person is, right.
So Adam Schiff is a sleazeball. Everyone knows it. Not a dumb person, by the way, you know we’re not dealing with dummies. But he’s a sleazeball. You take a look, perfect watermelon head.
Listen, John, I hate to ask you for help fighting back against Trump’s many lies, many insinuations, and many juvenile and childish insults again and again, but these false attacks — broadcast to millions of people on Fox, Newsmax and OAN — can do real damage if they go unanswered. So we need to respond. So I’m asking:

Thank you for always having my back. I shudder to think about the further damage to our democracy if Trump again runs for the presidency, which it appears he is likely to do. He must never get near the levers of power again.
