John,
Did you see the recent profile on Gabe in the El Paso Times?

The front-page article details how the outdoors, our Rio Grande, our public lands, and our outdoor traditions have shaped who Gabe is today.
Though Gabe’s grandfather left behind farmland in central Mexico to seek greater financial security in the industrious Ciudad Juárez, he was a skilled hunter and outdoorsman who passed his love of the outdoors down to Gabe.
He took Gabe and his other grandchildren across the border to New Mexico, an experience Gabe remembers fondly: “We fished under the bridge in Hatch and caught catfish. We played with the box turtles and saw this blanket of stars just take over us at night—stars that I’d never seen before as a kid.”
As Gabe grew up and attended college, he realized he wanted to pursue a career based on his love of the outdoors, not money. He went on to co-found an organization dedicated to passing outdoor traditions down to the next generation and bringing underrepresented youth into nature, and has worked as a conservationist, a staffer in U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich’s office, and a Las Cruces city councilor.
Now, Gabe is running for Congress in New Mexico’s 2nd district, in part because he believes “The next leaders in making climate change decisions should be as diverse as the people in our country.”
Help us elect a conservation and climate champion to represent NM-02 in Congress this November: chip in $10 or more to support Gabe and flip this toss-up seat blue in just a few months.

Together, we can give NM-02 the representation we deserve in Washington, and a leader who will prioritize conserving our environment and outdoor traditions for generations to come.
